DB of Job Listings

TradeMe & Seek for JOBS in Gizzy

 

This week I created a database to collate all jobs from TradeMe and Seek that have been posted for the Gisborne region.  I was able to search as far back as mid August and sharpen my data entry skills as well.  Although there don't seem to be a lot of IT specific jobs advertised for this area, other observations have been made while doing this activity.

 

This database will be updated to include job postings from August, September and October for 2017, through this medium.

This week I met with Rebekah Dinwoodie, the Head of Computing School to discuss work stuff.  Rebekah was also interested in the WIL/research component of my studies, so it was a good opportunity to get some feedback.  We talked about local sources of business data that were were more likely to be up-to-date and helpful, as part of the information gathering exercise.  The relevance across the range of business data that can be helpful in terms of understanding industry needs for future course offerings but also for student internships and graduate job opportunities.
 

Rebekah also enlightened me about some research conducted in Taradale which is being lead by Jonathon Sibley, relevant to the School of Business / Computing.  They are fortunate to have a fund dedicated to a significant piece of research directed towards development of knowledge around education and employment within Hawke's Bay businesses.
